A bold red lip is something I always want to wear, but never seem to find the right time or occasion to. Until the holiday season comes around, that is. Red lips are everywhere this time of year, and I just can’t get enough. With soooo many options and shades to choose from though, sometimes it’s hard to narrow down which one to go for, so for day 5 of my #12DaysofChristmas series, I’m sharing 3 of my favorite red lipsticks from super creamy and lightweight to matte and won’t-budge-at-all formulas. Out of this statement trio, there’s sure to be a formula and shade perfect for anyone!
NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick
SHade: Kitten Heels, $6.99
The entire range of the NYX Liquid Suede lipsticks are a go-to of mine. They’re the perfect liquid lipstick if your lips are really dry or don’t want a matte finish at all. They do eventually dry, but still have a bit of a sheen. This is a great everyday red that is super easy and quick to reapply throughout the day. This will transfer though, so I would recommend not wearing white (if you’r’e clumsy like I am) or just being cautious for what you pair it with. I find the best way to wear this is to apply it normally and then blot it with a tissue. It leaves such a nice stain and even when it fades, it fades evenly. It’s super comfortable for all-day wear.
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick
Shade: Outlaw, $20
When the Kat Von D brand named this lipstick, they couldn’t have nailed it better. This product is as everlasting as it comes. If I am looking for a red lip that I want to put on once and never have to touch up, I always go for this one. It’s the perfect classic red shade with a slight blue undertone, the kind that make your teeth look nice and white. Because it’s so matte, it is slightly drying, but not in a way that makes it too unbearable to wear for long periods of time. I would definitely recommend exfoliating and moisturizing your lips first with this one.
Sephora Cream Lip Stain
Shade: Always Red, $12
This Sephora lip stain is kind of a happy medium between the two liquid lipsticks previously mentioned. It does dry down matte, but not completely solid like the Kat Von D brand. Therefore, it’s also a bit more comfortable to wear for long periods of time and isn’t as drying. It definitely not as shiny as the NYX brand though, and it will stain your lips without much transfer at all. This one is great when you want a red lip that will stay in place but also doesn’t make your lips feel like the Sahara desert after a full day of wear.
